About Terral Insurance
Our Mission

Terral Insurance, LLC has been serving residents of Mississippi since 1896 as one of Mississippi’s most long-standing complete insurance agencies. Our commitment to customer satisfaction has been the key to success for our company and will always be what we uphold as the foundation.

In 1896, Mr. Jim as he was often referred to, found himself with the first policy issued that set in motion the prominent insurance business, J.A. Terral Agency.  The Bank of Quitman was home of Mr. Terrals newest venture which later became know as Terral Insurance, LLC.   Clifton M. Buddy Davis joined the agency in 1968 with the Davis family gaining full ownership in 1985 and has maintained the integrity and respect of the community.

Now with the Davis family still in ownership, Richard and Scott have grown the agency to new heights. Terral Insurance, LLC has three locations that maintains business throughout the state of Mississippi. Although the insurance industry has changed drastically since the early 1900s, the Terral Insurance Agency continues to serve its customers with the same high integrity,  loyalty, and honesty on which it was founded.

In 1896, Meridian Mississippi, with a population of 11,000, gave birth to J.A. Terral Agency. J.A. Terral was the son of ex-Circuit and Supreme Court Judge, Samuel Heidelberg Terral, and his wife, Mary McLeod Terral. A graduate of the University of Mississippi and a Beta Thea Pi member, J.A. Terral was the first Station Agent at Heidelberg, Mississippi when the Northeastern  Railroad was built in 1883.

Mr. Terral owned and operated a transfer business in Meridian for ten years, after which he was the Special Agent in South Mississippi for Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. Returning to Quitman in 1903, Mr.Terral was approached with an offer by the F.W. Williams State Agency of Meridian to begin a business. As fate would have it, having turned the offer down, Mr. Terral would reconcile with F.W. Williams State Agency in 1905 to write a complete line of business.

Mr. J.A. Terral
